8051prog2 is a fast USB 2.0 In-Circuit Serial Programmer (ICSP) for Atmel 8051 microcontrollers.
Fast, on-board USB 2.0 programmer with a simplified driver installation.
The programmer is specifically designed for In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP).
When connected to a prototype device, the 8051prog2 programmer becomes IN-SYSTEM programmer.
With ZIF socket, it becomes a standard programmer used for a large-scale production.
One of the possible ways of connecting 8051prog2 to a microcontroller is via an IDC10 connector. Refer to figure on the right. You just have to place one 2×5 connector between the microcontroller and other on-board components. By embedding the 8051prog2 connector you will be able to perform 8051 In-System Programming.
The programmer’s flat cable ending with an IDC10 female connector is used for connection. When creating a target device, the appropriate 10-pin male connector with 2.54 mm spacing between pins should be placed on it. The connector pins should be linked to the microcontroller pins. Their position varies depending on the microcontroller’s type and package.
